ProfilePROFILE
Stout leaves open radially into a rosette with a tight centre. White trichomes coat the grey-green leaf surface, giving the whole plant a powdered look. The marginal teeth are white and large, recurving like hooks in a dense row that throws a lace-like pattern of shade. The size and density of the teeth reach the eye before the leaves themselves.
The range is confined to the Barros Cassal area of Rio Grande do Sul, and the GBIF specimen records all sit in that state (see “Species Distributions”).
On Brazil's national list (Portaria GM/MMA nº 1.783/2026), it is assessed as CR (Critically Endangered) (see “Habitats and Conservation Assessments”).
