ProfilePROFILE
Deeply rippled leaves overlap closely, several rosettes crowding together in a dense clump. The foliage is dark reddish-brown to purple-brown, with only a thin cover of trichomes and a faint pale marbling showing through. The marginal teeth are large, white and densely set, accentuating the rippled leaf edges. The strong contrast between the dark leaves and the white teeth gives the whole plant a heavy, solid presence.
Records are only the material cited in the protologue, in Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, which disagrees with POWO’s distribution (Rio Grande do Sul only) (see “Species Distributions”).
