Dyckia ‘Naked Lady’ (Nude Lady)

DataDATA

ProfilePROFILE

Broad leaves open in a star, their surface a glossy, bright green with almost no visible trichomes. In the lead photograph the margins show no prominent teeth, and the leaves look smooth. New growth at the centre stands up small and tight. Registered in the Bromeliad Cultivar Register as BCR #2364, written ‘Naked Lady’ (Nude Lady).

The BCR record notes that the plant originated in the 1960s with Vivienne Doney, a cactus breeder in Monrovia, California, where it was first called ‘Nude Lady’; Seaborn listed it as altissima × sulfurea (?), and this origin was passed on by Dutch Vandervort in 2010.
